Fred has been a professional photographer for over 33 years. He began his career as a Still Photographic Specialist in the United States Air Force.

Fred has extensive experience in all types of photography from baby to industrial photography. His photographs have won numerous awards in different levels of competition.

Fred holds the Photographic Craftsman degree from the Professional Photographers of America, along with the Certified Photographer degree from the Tennessee Professional Photographers Association.

In 1981 Fred served as President of the Smoky Mountain Professional Photographers Association, the local affiliate of the Professional Photographers of America.

In 1989 Fred served as President of the Tennessee Professional Photographers Association, a state wide organization. He has received numerous awards for service to both of these organizations.

In 1993 Fred received the Southeastern Award from the eleven state Southeastern Professional Photographers Association. The award is the highest honor presented on behalf of the S.E.P.P.A. and is given annually to the one person chosen from the State organization for outstanding service to the profession.

In 1996 Fred received the National Award which is the highest honor presented to a member of the Tennessee Professional Photographers Association on behalf of the Professional Photographers of America. The award recognizes the outstanding contributions and service given to the profession of photography thoughout the recipient's career.

Recently Fred was honored with the "Top Ten" award identifying him as one of the Top Ten Professional Photographers in Tennessee.

Fred is a native of the Fountain City area of Knoxville. There have been 4 generations of his family graduate from Central High School, he was a member of the class of 1969. He has an Associate degree in Business Administration and attended UT before joining the Air Force. Fred taught photography classes at the State Techinical Institute (now Pellissippi State). He and wife Catherine live in Fountain City and are members of Smithwood Baptist Church.
